Min: Russia hopes for restart of EEU–EU common econ space talks
BRATISLAVA, May 24 (PRIME) -- Moscow would like to restart consultations between the E.U. and the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) on a common economic space of the two unions, Russian Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukayev said Tuesday at a meeting with business circles of Slovakia.
Several years ago Brussels and Moscow discussed a possibility to establish a common economic space from Lisbon to Vladivostok, Ulyukayev said. “No one, neither the Russian side nor the European one, rejected that idea,” he said.
“We hope that a dialogue (on a free trade zone with the E.U.) will be restarted, and that it will be restarted not only in the Russia–E.U. format, but also in the E.U.–EEU format,” he added.
The EEU comprises Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.
